![]() ![]() So you say I should stop using PhotoREC and clone the drive instead, I can do this I actually have a similar HDD ready for this task. Thanks to you all I've learned my lesson and will do better to check these things in the future so I don't waste my time and the time of those trying to help me out when I need it ) It was stupid of me to not do enough research and fact check the sites I was gathering this information from, I was also wrong to think I could trust the bogus names that EaseUS's DVR Recovery Wizard was giving the files. Well I got some explaining to do then, My first assumption was that NightOwl was using something UNIX based but I started to think it was a Microsoft system because a bunch of misses on a DVR Recovery Software that claimed that some of the Operating System files from the disk were Word Documents and Dll files, this and a forum post (Which I now know is false) led me to believe NightOwl's Operating System was using Windows NT and HFS+. I only can guess the MP3 files were some sort of audio effect in the NightOwl OS Interface, In fact if it's helpful I believe the operating system is based on some Windows NT version.Ī user from Discord dropped an great idea on the table although we both don't know if it's possible, "mark the files to not be deleted, and put the HDD back into the DVR" Is this possible? Could I mark the deleted files as allocated space and then export them using the DVR?Īny other ideas or help is greatly appreciated thanks - djcjf These files appear to be encrypted according to ( Binvis.io) they also refuse to open any software although I was able to import the MP3 files as RAW DATA in Audacity but they still seem encrypted or corrupted because their simply a few milliseconds of static. I'm wondering if someone here (Possibly an X NightOwl Developer) would know what extensions the proprietary video recordings are supposed to be in before being converted by the NightOwl export feature. The files recovered from the drive seem to be in a series of odd formats and are not operable in any well known software, They are either Corrupted, Encrypted, or simply have the wrong file extension attached which is a possible outcome with these pieces of recovery software, I'm utilizing PhotoREC for this task. I must retrieve them so I've taken the appropriate measures by powering down the unit the moment I noticed, I've already started the recovery process at home utilizing Open Source Software that's capable of ignoring the HSF+ filesystem that NightOwl machines utilize, So far the recover process has gone smooth but I've just ran into my first road block. Someone without authorization deleted a weeks worth of footage from a specific Camera, This "someone" got a hold of my password to do this.
